the Office of Parish Engagement
The Office of Parish Engagement is a dynamic and dedicated team within the Diocese of Brownsville, focused on invigorating our parish communities. Our mission is to strengthen, inspire, and support parish leaders and ministries, particularly in engaging with youth, young adults, and college students.
We exist to bring the vibrant message of the Gospel to life in our parishes. Rooted in Christ's mandate from Matthew 28:19-20, we are committed to empowering parish leaders, fostering active discipleship, and nurturing faith journeys across all ages. Our goal is to see every parish flourish as a hub of spiritual growth, community involvement, and transformative mission.
Goals
- To form and empower ministry leaders within parishes for missionary discipleship.
- To strengthen parishes through local implementation of wider initiatives including the Synod on Synodality and the National Eucharistic Revival.
- To create a vibrant and engaging environment for adolescents, young adults, and university/college students to grow in love of Jesus and the Church.

AN Evangelizing Parish
“The parish is the presence of the Church in a given territory, an environment for hearing God’s word, for growth in the Christian life, for dialogue, proclamation, charitable outreach, worship and celebration. In all its activities the parish encourages and trains its members to be evangelizers. It is a community of communities, a sanctuary where the thirsty come to drink in the midst of their journey, and a center of constant missionary outreach. We must admit, though, that the call to review and renew our parishes has not yet sufficed to bring them nearer to people, to make them environments of living communion and participation, and to make them completely mission-oriented.” (Evangelii Gaudium #28)
