Sponsor Couples Ministry Training & Formation

In the Sponsor Couple Program, an engaged couple meets with one married couple in the home of the married couple, for a series of meetings. The Sponsor Couple shares their personal experience of Christian marriage with the engaged couple through a one-couple to one-couple approach. Guided by the facilitation instrument known as FOCCUS, the Sponsor Couple encourages the engaged couples to examine their assumptions and expectations of marriage in the light of the real life experience offered to them by the sponsor couple.

During these sessions, a real and personal relationship between the sponsor couple and the engaged couple is established. In the privacy of their own home, the sponsor couple becomes an open book of real-life experiences for the engaged couple, sharing their own experience of how marriage is lived out in its day-to-day ups and downs. The Sponsor Couples are also encouraged to evangelize the engaged through prayer. The flexibility and adaptability of the meetings combined with the personal and pastoral focus of sharing one-couple to one-couple provides a very satisfying experience for the engaged couple as they practice skills that they can actually use in their marriage.
