Catholic Engaged Encounter

The Catholic Engaged Encounter Weekend offers engaged couples an overnight “retreat” experience.   This much-needed time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, jobs, & wedding plan activity allows couples to enhance their loving relationship through reflection, writing, and sharing.  It also provides a religious atmosphere allowing the couples to concentrate, on their relationship one another and with God.   During the weekend, the couples are introduced to 13 different topics, including one on Natural Family Planning. A team of married couples & a priest guides the group of couples toward a better understanding of themselves as unique individuals seeking a lifelong companionship through the sacrament of marriage in the Catholic Church.   Each couple is encouraged to spend as much time away from the others in order to write and share with each other their most profound thoughts. 
The ideal time to attend an Engaged Encounter is from 6 months to a year before the wedding, but no later than 2-3 months before the wedding date.  Since SPACE IS LIMITED to only 30 couples per weekend and are scheduled every other month.

It is recommended to register after the initial meeting with the parish priest.

Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.  The total cost includes room and board plus materials for $200.00 per couple.   The registration fee – Money Order ONLY and the completed registration form can be mailed to: Diocese of Brownsville - Family Life Office, 700 N. Virgen de San Juan Blvd., San Juan, TX  78589  
A confirmation letter is mailed to the couple when the application and fee are received.  The couple will be guaranteed admission to the Engaged Encounter Weekend only if they have received a confirmation letter.

***Rescheduling will only be allowed in case of an emergency approved by the Director or Associate, and will include a $50.00 rescheduling fee***
