Human Resources Mission The office of Human Resources assists the Chancery, Parishes, and other entities within the Diocese with issues regarding personnel policies, employment and hiring procedures, salary/wage administration, performance evaluations, 403 b retirement plan, cafeteria plan, worker’s compensation, safety, and other related topics. Staff The Human Resources office is currently staffed by the Director of Human Resources and a part time secretary. The HR secretary coordinates most of the diocesan employee events and works closely with Director on worker’s compensation matters. Questions about first reports of injury can be directed to either one of us. The secretary and director are located in the Brownsville office most of the time. The director's goal is to be in the San Juan office at least once a week. The HR director for the diocese is called for consultation; the director can recommend a course of action, but cannot give directives to parishes and schools. We welcome calls for us to come and visit the parishes and schools. Employee Benefits Eligible employees of the Diocese of Brownsville are provided a wide range of benefits. A number of the programs (such as social security, worker’s compensation) cover all employees in the manner prescribed by law. Benefits eligibility is dependent upon a variety of factors, including employee classification. Your supervisor can identify the programs for which you are eligible. Details of many of these programs can be found elsewhere in the employee handbook. The following benefit programs are available to eligible employees:
Some benefit programs require contributions from the employee such as insurance benefits, but most are fully paid by the Diocese of Brownsville. The Diocese of Brownsville does not offer continuation of insurance coverage (COBRA) at termination of employment. Current Openings The Diocese of Brownsville is currently accepting applications for the following positions:
